See, this is TRUE dreadlocks. Rastas don’t maintain theirs at all. It’s part of their religion. That’s why I don’t like it when people call “locs” “dreads” or “dreadlocks”. They don’t know about the Rasta culture. 

I grew up and spent time with quite a few Rastas, and I don’t know ANYONE who would keep their hair like this. The Rastas I knew took tremendous pride in their locs, and maintained them very well. The only people I’ve ever seen with hair like this back at home are homeless.  

This Stevie Wonder song has gotten me through some rough times. And accompanied me on some awesome road trips. Lots of memories and inspiration :)

30 years ago today, Bob Marley passed away. Some of the images of his funeral — seeing the procession on the TV — are among my earliest memories. His music will live forever.
